Successful Summer Craft Fair

After long preparations, the Summer Etsy Ireland Craft Fair took place on  Sunday 7 June 2015 at The Green Door Market in Dublin 8.

The market opened at 10am for set up, and trading took place from 11am-5pm. The successful event  offered plenty of opportunities of networking and showcasing products. There was live music, too.

We had some new Etsy Sellers at the market, like Laura Chacon with Calligraphy by Laura. 


Regular members were delighted to make new contacts and sales e.g. Hazel Donnelly, 

and MisheStudioDesign.

Our thanks go to the organiser Maria from The Crafty Shamrock for the hard work in making the market a success. A lot of work goes into these events, which often is not obvious to the visitors.

The Toejam Etsy Market - Update

Here are the final details for The Toejam Etsy Market on October 27th.

• The Toejam Etsy Market will take place on Saturday October 27th from 12pm to 6pm at The Bernard Shaw as part of the 'Beatyard' event.
• Setting up
  Load in will be from 9am - 11am that morning via the back gate. There is a Google Map with driving and access directions which you can find and share here.
• Car Parking
  Cars cannot be parked in the Bernard Shaw Car Park as this is the shoppers car park. They can be brought to the back gate between 9am-11am for load in and (6pm-7pm for load out) but then must be parked elsewhere. Whilst you can park in the laneway it is at your own risk (the laneway is public land, not a private lane and does not belong to the Bernard Shaw). We recommend you park your car on the street in and around the bar or in Portobello.
• Tables
  Each participant will be provided with a 6ft x 2ft trestle table
• Electricity
  There are NO individual power sources for tables.
• Insurance
  The Bernard Shaw has full public liability insurance for the event.
• Weather
  The event will take place rain, hail or shine and all stalls will be under rain cover.
• Cancellations
  Please let us know ASAP if you can't make the event so we can free up a spot for another participant.
• Change
  Please bring your own change with you as there is only limited change in The Bernard Shaw and they need it for the bar at the weekend.
• Other Details
• Food & Drink - The Bernard Shaw is a fully licenced bar. The Big Blue Bus will be open all day. It does amazing pizza, breads and dips. It is very popular around these parts.
• Accessibiliy - The Bernard Shaw is a very old building and as such has no wheelchair facilities. Smaller baby buggies and prams will be fine.
• Music - the music outside will be at background ambient level for the neighbours sake! Music later that night will be a guy called Mike Slott from New York - full event details here for that night. And here is the full event listing for The Beatyard which is the weekend festival we are running that this market is part of. 
• Facebook - John has created a Facebook Event here and will also be doing a lot of other promotion. Please feel free to promote wherever and whenever you can, but do please visit the Facebook page and use the same material as John is. He is promoting us and doing everything for us, so we should promote his side of things too. Lets promote the TOTAL event!

IMPORTANT - FREE EVENT NOTICE

Hi Everyone

We have been contacted by John from The Bernard Shaw - Bar, Studio & Artspace - (www.thebernardshaw.com) in Dublin. He wants to run a craft fair featuring the Etsy Ireland Team, on Saturday 27th October. The options are as follows:

• Anyone from the Etsy Ireland Team can go there and set up their own stall, selling for themselves. 
• We could take over the whole marquee and run an 'Etsy Ireland Event', in which case you could attend in person and set up a stall, but in addition we would also need some volunteers to run stalls where the sellers can't get there, but you could post items to be sold, a bit like Ruth did with the 'pop up shop'.

This is a great opportunity for the team and all of it's members who would like to participate because John is providing everything free of charge!

This event has been run before and so it's likely that lots of people would be in attendance.

I used to run that in here once every 6 - 8 weeks and it was super popular and a lot of fun. Since we had to stop the large scale stuff I've done a couple of food fares and smaller markets (called Mini Malls) and I would be looking to run the Etsy show along the same lines. Maybe like 6 - 10 well produced stalls, with food and drink surrounding, run from 12 - 6pm with the market seemlessly becoming an after party, filled full of people, everybody is happy!

For the Mini Mall there is two options. One is that its an Etsy Mini Mall, as in you guys front it and fill the majority, if not all of the stalls, making sure there is a good balance of product on sale. I can fill in around the gaps with food vendors etc. The other option is that there is an Etsy area at The Mini All, you guys could take over a row of tables. 

With my promotion deadline looming, (monday!) I would love to be able to say Etsy are 100% in, and then we can work on the details over the next few weeks and months and decide which type of event it is. Would you be able to do that do you think?'

The cost to attend is €35 per day and you must commit for the full 4 days.


Shopping  World have arranged for a camera crew from Ireland AM at TV3 to be there filming the event.

Market Opportunity for Etsy Ireland

St George's market in Belfast is opening it's doors on Sundays as of July 4th 2010. It already hosts markets on Fridays and Saturdays and has a huge amount of space inside. There has been a suggestion to hold a weekly stall for Etsy Ireland. Different members could show their work at it every week. We would have to cover the stall every week as a no show would unfortunately lose us the space. Would any one be interested? Leave your comment below, pass on the word and we'll see what we can do.

Stall costs £13 each week.

A Great Market Opportunity in the North

I am taking part in this market and the organisers have asked me if anyone else is interested. It is over Easter Sunday and Monday and takes place in the grounds of Castle Ward which is a beautiful National Trust owned house situated in Co. Down. 

The event attracts 7000+ visitors every year and I've heard the market is a great success for anyone taking part. I'm hoping so anyway! It costs £45 per day which may seem expensive, but I'm sure you can share a stall and split the costs.

You need to email Carole at carole.crozier[at!]nationaltrust.org.uk. I think this is definitely a market worth doing. If you can't do it this time you should email her anyway to be put on the mailing list and get ready for next year!

Exhibit with Craft Guerilla at Knitting and Stitching show in Dublin

An exciting opportunity has arisen for six individual designer makers to exhibit with Craft Guerrilla at the Knitting and Stitching Show in London, Harrogate and Dublin in 2010.

Six different designer makers will be selected to take part for each of the shows in London, Harrogate and Dublin, making eighteen places offered in total. Please be sure to indicate the nearest show to your hometown in your submission.

The Craft Guerrilla Manifesto

The Craft Guerrilla is a group set up to work with independent Crafts People, Artists and Designers Makers of quality hand made goods. The aim of The Craft Guerrilla is to join forces with other creative individuals and set up craft events in vacant or unused venues, associate with "friendly" businesses, provide a community to link and cross promote independent designer makers, sister armies in other cities, share web traffic, and provide helpful information to other designer maker groups as well as individual designer makers.

HOW TO APPLY

If you would like to apply for this opportunity then please send up to five photos of your work by 11th March 2010 together with 200 words telling us why you should have a stall at the Knitting and Stitching Show, paying attention to the three criteria outlined in the submission criteria on their site (see the link above for this).

There will be interviews and requests for samples of work for those who are successful in the first round and a decision will be made by end May 2010.

The Blackrock Craft Fair

HI all!

The second Blackrock Craft Fair will take place on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd November 2009 in Blackrock, Co Dublin. Over 20 stall holders will come together to sell handmade crafts including handbags, Christmas cards, children’s clothes, mosaics and artwork. There will be a Winter Cafe upstairs too with space for a cuppa and quiet read of the paper.



It’s a definite date for the diary for those early Christmas purchases when there’s still plenty of time to browse and take in the warm winter atmosphere.
