 Usually when picking a team to feature, I set out with a particular theme or idea in mind and find a team that matches the criteria. A bit stumped and fed up of Back to School treasuries, yet not quite ready for full-on Autumn or Halloween, I decided to randomly browse all Etsy teams for inspiration. I came across a team I simply couldn't ignore:

the We Haven't Sold team.  With an up-front and candid name like that, who could pass them by?

This team started up in 2011 and now has 63 members. While a number of members are not listing currently, many are building up their shops. I'm really glad to see that some of the longer established ones have since sold, and sold well. Perhaps getting together as a team has been part of their success?

I'm just back from a summer holiday to Spain, a country close to my heart as I spent most of my twenties living there. So with the the sound of the sea echoing in my ears, I was naturally drawn to the Etsy Made in Spain team this month.

They are a well-established team of over 600 members, dedicated to promoting Spanish shops on Etsy. Their mission is to create a place where Spanish artists can promote their work. Handmade crafts are enjoying a recent upsurge in popularity in Spain and the Etsy Made in Spain team wishes to showcase it to the world. They share more than a language, but also a way of living. Etsy is awash with glorious green treasuries this time of year in the run up to St Patrick's Day. Thank you Etsy people around the globe for acknowledging our tiny green isle!!  I thought I'd go green in a different way and sought out a team that believed in recycling, upcycling, being Eco-friendly and using sustainable materials.

And continuing with the theme, here are a couple of super simple ideas for recycling or re-using in the home. No skills required!

 

Candle holder made with re-purposed souffle packaging (glass ramekin) and tiny pieces of frosted sea glass. (more info here, on my own blog if required)

Don't discard those laddered stockings and tights! Cut the 'foot' off and cover the end of your broom for an amazing cobweb and animal hair duster. An old sock will work ok too, but the static electricity of the nylon really draws fluff, dust and dander like a magnet. And it's more Eco-friendly than plugging in your vacuum cleaner every time!
