This weeks eyes open Ireland comes from Cortney of consciouscrafts.etsy.com. Her images are from the Loop Head Peninsula in Co. Claire.
"My husband and I enjoy walking the beaches on the Loop Head Peninsula. While the Ring of Kerry and Beara receive a lot of tourists, the Loop Head Peninsula is quiet and quaint, off the beaten path - only the true adventurists make it this far."
"We enjoyed a three hour walk along College Bay on Sunday, it's located on the Shannon Estuary. Other than weaving on the loom, creating in the kitchen and relaxing by the fire with my Patrick, there's few places I'd rather be than exploring every inch of a beach."
Love on a beach - Ships come and go, tides too, but at the end of the day I love the beaches of the Loop Head Peninsula and you!
Carrigaholt Castle was built in 1480 by the McMahons, chiefs of the Corcabascin Peninsula. The Burton family were the last inhabitants in the 19th century. All that remains is a shell.
Bog Oak - While I was busy hunting sea glass and ceramics, I stumbled upon this stump. There were a few more in the same area.
1947 Okeanos Panama Steamer wreckage - the remains of this wreck are off the point near the battery. The tides were low enough, so we could make out the full length of the hull that once carried grain.
