Home reflects the work of artist/designer/makers and their connection with their home place - Donegal. For some it is their birth place while others have made it their home. This exhibition explores the different elements of what home is to each maker.

This weeks photo was taken at the Bloom Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend.  I just love this colour combination.....

Continued congrats to Ruth from  nicedaydesigns  and all the other volunteers who are working in the Pop Up Shop in Limerick.  Nice article in the Limerick Leader limerickleader  . 
Only one more weekend left to browse and buy in the shop so get on down to Bourke's Bar in Catherine St.  Closes next Sunday......

The Pop Up Shop and Etsy Ireland also were menetioned in the Irish Craft Supplement in the Irish Times last week.  Onwards and Upwards ladies and gents!!!!!!!

For those of you in Dublin, there is a series of weekend Craft Fairs in the Powerscourt Centre over the Summer.  The rates for the tables are reasonable.  Are there any Dublin crafters interested in being part of an Etsy Ireland corner?  If so, contract me through my etsy shop and leave your email address.  It could be interesting......

Print Block is a collective of textile artists and designers working predominantly in the field of screen print. Print Block originated in 2010 to collaborate on exhibitions, to share information, to gain access to printing facilities in Dublin, and to elevate the medium of textiles within Ireland. Batik Techniques for Beginners at The Studio, Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny, Sunday 3 July 2011, 10am – 5pm 
A one day workshop introducing basic and contemporary processes of batik – an ancient fabric dyeing and decorating technique where hot wax is used as a resist on cloth.

21st Century Irish Craft Exhibition - The National Museum of Ireland's collection of Irish contemporary craft on display at the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Benburb Street, Dublin 7, from 8 June to 08 December 2011   

Mary from QueenofCuffs  and I Huggleknits  will be at the Dancing Buffalo Art + Craft Fair at Spawell Dublin next Sunday 17 June from 12 to 5.  Mary will have a selection of her wonderful cuffs and other crafted items and, as well as my Tiny Chuus, Baby Cards, Knit Kits and knitting needles,  I will be offering a large range of craft books and magazines at a "never to be repeated" price.  It would be great to see you there......

Mallow Home & Garden (and craft!!) exhibition

Fleur from Bluebell Eco Candles is helping to organise a craft market at the Mallow Home and Garden Show in Co Cork 2nd 3rd & 4th July. This is the first time small crafts people have been given the opportunity too join. We are to be in the 'outdoor display area' so own cover is required.



The normal cost for traders/ companies is from €900 for the three days but for us the cost is reduced to €250 for the three days.

This is a huge event in the Munster area drawing crowds of 30,000 people and more.

Sustainable Futures Exhibition Limerick from 15 March at City Gallery

The Sustainable Futures exhibition aims to celebrate the works of Irish based designers and craftspeople that incorporate the concept of sustainability into their work. The works on show will be an eclectic mix of craft, design and fine art elements including furniture, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and jewellery. The exhibition also aims to increase awareness among the general public on the importance of acting sustainably.


A number of workshops and demonstration by artist and craftspeople will take place and the public will be encouraged to participate. The exhibition will run from the 15th of March till the end of April in the Limerick City Gallery and will be open to the public every day.

Exhibitors have incorporated some or all of the following sustainable attributes into their work:

• reduce, re-use, recycle, upcycle;
• containing re-used or recycled materials;
• minimising packaging;
• minimise or eliminate pollutants;
• source and produce locally;
• efficient resource and energy use;
• free from environmentally damaging substances;
• degradable, biodegradable and compostable
• sustainable production, distribution, usage and disposal qualities.

If any artists and craftspeople that are incorporating attributes of sustainability into their work are interested in finding out more please contact Diarmuid Neilan [ diarmuid.neilan@hotmail.com ] with a view to exhibiting and selling their work at the sustainable futures exhibition.

Exhibit with Craft Guerilla at Knitting and Stitching show in Dublin

An exciting opportunity has arisen for six individual designer makers to exhibit with Craft Guerrilla at the Knitting and Stitching Show in London, Harrogate and Dublin in 2010.

Six different designer makers will be selected to take part for each of the shows in London, Harrogate and Dublin, making eighteen places offered in total. Please be sure to indicate the nearest show to your hometown in your submission.

The Craft Guerrilla Manifesto

The Craft Guerrilla is a group set up to work with independent Crafts People, Artists and Designers Makers of quality hand made goods. The aim of The Craft Guerrilla is to join forces with other creative individuals and set up craft events in vacant or unused venues, associate with "friendly" businesses, provide a community to link and cross promote independent designer makers, sister armies in other cities, share web traffic, and provide helpful information to other designer maker groups as well as individual designer makers.

If you would like to apply for this opportunity then please send up to five photos of your work by 11th March 2010 together with 200 words telling us why you should have a stall at the Knitting and Stitching Show, paying attention to the three criteria outlined in the submission criteria on their site (see the link above for this).

There will be interviews and requests for samples of work for those who are successful in the first round and a decision will be made by end May 2010.

Please send the photos as .jpg files no larger than 1MB each together with your 200 words, your contact details and the location of your nearest Knitting and Stitching Show (London, Harrogate or Dublin) to craftguerrilla@googlemail.com.
