CRAFTY NEWS DESK.....LATE NEWS!!!!

Knitting and Stitching Fair this week
- ending on Sunday next 31 October 2010

If you get to the fair check out the 4 Irish Designers who have been selected by Crafty Guerilla to showcase and sell their items.

Also check out the Swishing Salon where clothes can be swapped in aid of Age Action Ireland as well as meeting some crafty people to show you how to recycle and customise your clothes.

Brigitte from Purls of Colour http://www.etsy.com/shop/purlsofcolour was there yesterday showing how to reuse old jeans by tearing them into strips and knitting them into a scaft, bag etc.  Today I spent a few hours showing how to use strips of old lining, ribbons from chocolate boxes, old buttons etc to crochet them into corsages, badges, mats etc.  If you have any recycling or customising tips to pass on, check out this blog http://eastlondoncraftguerrilla.blogspot.com/2010/10/next-up-knitting-and-stitching-show-at.html and  drop by at the Swishing Salon either tomorrow or Sunday.

Let me know how you get on
Cheers

CRAFTY NEWS DESK.....LATE NEWS!!!!

KNITTING AND STITCHING SHOW - - OPPORTUNITY

For the first time at the Knitting & Stitching Show, a Swishing Salon is being held at the RDS Dublin from 28th to 31st October. Its all about the exchange of good quality secondhand clothing, a swap shop! It has been held a couple of times at theLondon show and it has worked really well.

There will be craft tables in the same area working on little projects that tie in with recycling, customising and embelishing clothing and making accessories from recycled bits and bobs. These activities have proved really popular in London  .

In London there were 4 round craft tables each with a Brother sewing machine. Some activities at the tables were using the machines and others involved making fascinators or rosettes with recycled materials and knitting with old t-shirt material on giant needles. A small fee to cover materials was charged for each activity and the tables were always full.

Would anyone be interested in being part of the swishing feature at the Knitting & Stitching Show or do you know anyone that would be?  Some space to sell bits and pieces will be offered and obviously all parties involved in the feature will be promoted.

As the show is on next week if you are interested you must contact Wendy by phone  +44 208 692 2299 or directly through the etsy contact link

Sounds like it could be great fun and an amazing opportunity to showcase creative talents.  So get in touch with Wendy as soon as possible.  Would be great to see you there.
Cheers
