Greetings for the Crafty News Desk...
What a busy time for all our crafters here in Ireland.
Big Seasons Greetings to all of our followers here at home and right around the world.
Some exciting news for you all
The Crafts Council of Ireland (CCoI) and Craft Northern Ireland (Craft NI) announced today that they have designated 2011 as Year of Craft. The year marks the 40th anniversary of the Crafts Council of Ireland and will be celebrated through a diverse range of dynamic events and programmes at home and abroad to showcase the very best of craft made on the island of Ireland.
A dedicated website www.craftinireland.com is now live with the most up to date listing of events for Year of Craft 2011.
It might be worth our while doing something as a group to highlight our group and tie it in with the national events!!!!!
Something for the new team to get their teeth into.

ReplyDeleteSounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe CraftinIreland people had a representative at Carrick-on-Shannon yesterday.
- The fair was great, after snow stopped play on Friday, Saturday was full of great traders and punters and a steady trickle all afternoon. Almost broke even on both tables (yesterday's and the one that was snowed off the other week) - so nice not to be totally in the red. Even made a couple Euro for Dogs for the Disabled Ireland.
SweetOlive Misprint's Natalia and Co. to be congratulated on such a fabulous event!
So, for a kick-off, how about a multi-media scarf/shawl/wrap for our patron? Those of us working paper or fabric or ink crafts could work a portion each, then our excellent jewellers could come up with some matching accessories, then one of our woodcarvers could make a nice box for it all to go into?
Alternately, how about a hamper/chest/variation with the entire membership contributing a small something to go in it?
