Team Meeting Update

It looks like there is enough interest to warrent two meetings for the team. It's been confirmed that there will be a meeting this Saturday 22nd in Dublin. It's the usual venue of the Snail Bar on Fade Street in Dublin at 2pm. It's just across from the Market Bar off Georges Street, and there's lovely coffee and cake. If you have any queries just contact Alex as she will be heading the meeting. Click here for a google map, the venue is listed here as the No Name Bar, you'll see it if you zoom in.
In the choice between Cork or Limerick, the greatest response was for Cork. I was trying to look at the dates when people are free, and I was wondering could people make it for this Saturday? I know it's short notice, but otherwise it will be June before we can have the next one. Obviously people only need to attend one meeting, unless they've perfected cloning :) Any suggestions on where is a good place for a large group to meet that isn't too noisey?? Good coffee and cake are an essential too..... or good pints!!

  1. I'd suggest the Bodega in Cork for an early afternoon coffee - nice and spacious and fairly quiet at that time. I wish I could make this Saturday but I'm heading away (ash cloud permitting) til Monday :(
If it suits everyone else though, work away and I'll catch up the next time.

  2. I can make it this Saturday in Cork I think. Bodega sounds good to me, I've never been there so it's a chance to explore a new place. I was thinking the coffee place near Beamish brewery, but although it's a nice place it's tiny, so a table would have to be booked for that. I'll keep an eye on meeting updates and looking forward to meeting some team members:)

  8. I am not 100% sure if I can make it this Saturday in Dublin, but I will come if I am not going away somewhere!

I was wondering, could we organise some kind of a little craft supplies swap shop? Might be good to do it before a meetup? I want to do a bit of a spring clean and get rid of some beads that I don't think I'll ever use, but they would be good for jewellery-making, and also some buttons. I am looking for fabric scraps of organza / satin / chiffon / lining fabric - anything polyester or nylon really - to make my flower accessories, and also I am making some brooches and clips from those ribbons that you get on new clothes to help them stay on the hangers, if anyone has a collection of them they'd like to get rid of??

  11. Great to hear some definites for Dublin, looking forward to seeing you all.

Like the idea of the craft swap too, perhaps bring along anything on Saturday for the Dublin people and we can have an impromptu swap shop.

Will try and bag the big square table again too.

  12. It looks like there is not going to be many around for the meet up in Cork, so we might leave it till another week. Is there a different day that would suit people better, Sunday is out for me as I have a market every week.
Is some friday evening a bad idea??Just throwing ideas out there.

The craft supplies swap sounds great. I've lots of stuff, but I won't be at the Dublin meeting this week.

  13. bah I posted in the wrong place...but yes I'm in for Saturday.

That's a good idea re the swap meet. I've got some excess gemstones and some brass and copper and stuff which someone else might put to good use.

  16. if anyone else is considering doing the Bernard shaw thingy, maybe some of us could take a walk over to to it after the meeting to check the venue out (if it is on this Saturday.)

  18. Oh yeah, I had forgotten about the Bernard Shaw thing! I don't know is there something on this Sat - the next car boot sale is on 5th June.

I can make it to the meetup this Sat, so I'll bring some beads and stuff for swapping :) By the way, I sometimes recycle clothes that are damaged/torn/worn out to make flower out of - if the material is suitable, like silky/satin pyjamas or tops, so if anyone has old clothes in those types of fabrics that you think would be useful please give 'em to me (especially if they are damaged and you can't donate them to a clothes swap or charity shop).

Maybe we could put photos up on the blog of items we've made from materials and supplies that we got in the swap?! Could be a good blog post theme :)

On another note, there is a clothes swap on every Sat in Shebeen Chic on Geroge's St (where the Crafty Market is on twice a month now) from 12 til 4 or 5, if anyone has good clothes to swap before our meetup. Huzzah for swap shops!
