A Box For My Treasure says hi...

Hi there. I thought it was about time I introduced myself properly - my name is Judith (aka A Box For My Treasure). I played around with jewellery making on and off for years as a bit of a hobby, but had the opportunity to really embrace it after I became yet another casualty of the recession and found myself without a job. So, now I get to spend my days doing something I absolutely LOVE - making girly jewellery (flowers and hearts feature a lot).

Like Clodagh I too am an etsy addict - it’s quite phenomenal how many hours I can spend on that site a day... It’s an absolute treasure trove; full of inspiring artists and beautiful goods, has a great community and it’s wonderful to have somewhere like it to sell my jewellery through. It’s also an amazing place to shop if you love handmade goods and knowing that you’re wearing something or own something that’s pretty much unique and unlikely to be seen on loads of other people.

I’m looking forward to becoming a more active member of the Crafty Ireland team and meeting everyone sometime soon. In the meantime I’ve been checking out everyone’s shops and love what I see.

Judith ♥

Sleepy Owl

Hello, I'm Yvonne! I'm new to Etsy and the Crafty Ireland team. I've been to 2 meetings and I must say am very impressed with the industry and talent of the ladies I've met.

My shop is up now, yvonnekennedy its getting there slowly but surely! Unfortunately the shelves are empty right now, but not for long
as the first pieces will be up by Tuesday. My background is design and illustration, so I have a mixed bag of offerings, from limited edition prints, original indian ink illustrations and mixed media art pieces. I'm very excited to be part of the group and look forward to many meetings and collaborations in the future! See you next time xx Yvonne

5 Quick n' easy ways to promote the team!

from left to right : : Clodagh (Clodagh Molloy Jewellery), Angela (Arty Smarty),
Sarah (Red Possum) and Edana (Sailmakersdaughter)

Hello folks! Just Tanya here with a quick team update for you! Yesterday we had our second team meeting. As you can see from the above photo the sun was actually shining - shock horror... Clodagh, Angela, Sarah and Edana kindly posed for this unmissable photo opportunity - cheers girls! Scootin' out of view is our lovely Yvonne who very kindly set up a facebook fan page for the team - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Crafty-Ireland/112796059286

Over some cool drinks in Bewleys we each did a little 'show & tell' of our latest projects for autumn and had a chat about how the team was moving forward and explored ways on how we can help steer the team forward and get some much needed exposure.

So here are 5 pretty simple ways to help promote the team - in your own time! I'm sure you can add to the list, please feel free to share and comment :)*

  1. Tag your shop items with 'craftyirelandteam' - this will make it so easy for fellow members to find your products for featuring here in the blog, in treasuries and for a bit of window shopping too!

  2. Use your shop announcement to spread the word - something simple like 'I'm a proud member of the crafty Ireland team' is ideal! It lets your future customers know that you are an active member of the etsy community and helps create awareness of our team.

  3. Heart fellow members - book yourself some 'off' time to browse through the members etsy shops and pass on some of those nice big hearts of yours! You never know what you might find!

  4. Be Informed! - this blog is really the shop window and noticeboard for the team so its wise to keep yourself up to date. Consider joining flickr too, its a great way to share pictures and promote your etsy. (Have you noticed that nifty flickr badge over there?)

  5. Tell a friend! - Online marketing is great but nothing works quite as well as word of mouth - so spread the word sisters!
Ok I'm all talked out now!... I'll catch you all later! T xoxo ;)

My name is Clodagh Molloy and I am an Etsy Addict

I have a serious problem, I am an etsy addict and a very proud member of the Etsy Ireland Team. My shop is Clodagh Molloy Jewellery. I have always had an interest in art and craft. I was brought up in a creative family. My father, a landscape painter, and my bother, trained in glass working but now a wrought iron furniture maker, were the biggest and best creative influences in my life. My fondest memory is going to art galleries on a Sunday afternoon with my father. I followed my brothers footsteps and went to the National College of Art and Design. I studied craft design specialising in Metal. Four of the best years of my like.

I am at my happiest and most content when I am in my tiny studio. Hoping to one day have a larger space to work in. However I am happy to have a space I can call my own. I love making custom orders. As a result you will see me regularly checking out the Custom section on Etsy.

I have worked as a jeweller in Finland (Turku) and America (San francisco and San Mateo) as well as here in Ireland. In Ireland I have worked for Alan Ardiff and Breda Haugh, as well as a Jewellery wholesaler. I have also worked in the Dublin Assay Office where all the jewellery made and imported in Ireland is hallmarked for authenticity. I would love to be able to support myself solely from my own work. One step at a time I will get there.

Thanks to all

Clodagh

We are Crafty Ireland!!!

Hello and welcome to our official team blog - grab a comfy chair and make yourself at home!

The Crafty Ireland team was launched in Dublin on July 18th, 2009. The team represents a great variety of talented artists, crafters and designers currently based in Ireland who are selling online at http://www.etsy.com/. Our shared goal is to reintroduce the value of handmade to our local communities and spread the awareness of etsy nationwide, both north and south of the border.

So far we have 55 members and the numbers keep growing! Over the coming months we are eager to establish and strengthen ties amongst our members nationwide as well as reach out to talented crafters who have slipped under the radar. Through participation in craft fairs, team events and monthly meetings (aka coffee & cake) we can help support one another and bounce a few ideas on how to actively promote the team.
This blog 'Etsy Ireland' will act as noticeboard for all members - a way of sharing info about upcoming events, team challenges and so on. There will also be plenty of fun content including clever how-to's, member interviews, giveaways, fab recipes and other interesting stuff so stay tuned!

Best Wishes :)*
